Cropping trims the edges of the frame. Use it to turn a landscape clip into a vertical one for Reels or TikTok, cut a black border, or remove a sidebar from a screen recording.

Pick a preset – 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait, 9:16 vertical or 16:9 widescreen – or drag the box freely. Move and resize it over the preview until the framing looks right, then click Crop.

The crop runs in your browser with FFmpeg WebAssembly. Your video never leaves your device, and the result is a re-encoded H.264 MP4 that plays anywhere.

Match the platform

9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, 4:5 for Instagram feed, 1:1 for square posts, 16:9 for YouTube. The preset locks the ratio so you only choose the position.

Crop first, then resize

Cropping to 9:16 from a 1080p landscape clip leaves 608×1080. If you need 1080×1920, run the result through the resize tool afterwards.

Keep an eye on the subject

Scrub the preview before cropping. A box that frames the subject at second 1 may cut them off at second 20.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping reduce video quality?

The video is re-encoded to H.264. On the High setting the difference is not visible. Resolution drops only because pixels outside the box are removed.

What formats are supported?

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI go in. A standard H.264 MP4 with the original audio comes out.

Is there a file size limit?

Browsers can hold roughly 1 GB in memory. Files under about 300 MB and 1080p are comfortable; 4K works but is slow.

Is it free and private?

Yes. No account, no watermark added, and nothing is sent to a server. Everything runs on your device.
