Sometimes only the sound matters: a lecture you want to listen to on a walk, a voice memo recorded on video, a song from a concert clip, or an interview you need to transcribe. This tool takes the audio track out of a video and saves it as an MP3.

Choose a bitrate from 128 to 320 kbps. 128 kbps is fine for speech; 256 or 320 kbps keeps music full. If the video already holds AAC audio, you can copy the original stream to an M4A instead, with no re-encoding and no quality loss.

The extraction happens in your browser with FFmpeg WebAssembly. The video is never sent to a server, and the MP3 has nothing added.

Speech vs music

Use 128 kbps for podcasts, lectures and voice notes. Use 256–320 kbps for music where cymbals and reverb would otherwise sound thin.

Original stream copy

Most MP4 and MOV files carry AAC audio. Copying it to M4A is instant and lossless. Pick MP3 only when you need the widest compatibility.

Trim first for long videos

Cut the section you want with the video cutter, then extract. It is faster and gives you a shorter file.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting to MP3 reduce audio quality?

MP3 is lossy, so a little detail is lost at 128 kbps. At 256–320 kbps the difference is hard to hear. Choose stream copy (M4A) for zero loss.

What video formats work?

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and most files FFmpeg can decode.

Is there a file size limit?

Browsers handle roughly 1 GB in memory. Files under about 300 MB are comfortable; audio extraction is fast because the picture is not re-encoded.

Is it free and private?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, and the video never leaves your device.
